What Causes Recurrent C.difficile Infection?

my 25 year old daughter contracted c-diff over a year ago and has recovered. Since, it would appear everytime she has consumed alcohol she has been ill enough at time where she is in bed the next day-sometimes all day, and has also missed work due to this. My question has to do with the digestive system and alcohol consumption, and is alcohol consumption for someone who has contracted c-diff at one time not such a good ides, and if so, why would this be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Clostridium difficile by itself cause bowel inflammation, adding alcohol makes double the inflammation causes. So first I suggest quitting alcohol and of course have stool examination for clostridium infection residue. Clostridium difficile is very resistant sometimes, and if symptoms persist have a doctor consult.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
