Hello,

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

I have read your question fully and understand your concerns.

Urinary tract infections can occur in a diabetic patient if his/her blood glucose levels are high and not adequately controlled. Once her blood glucose is controlled, her UTIs would possibly settle down.

I am not sure what drugs your mother is taking for her diabetes. Some diabetic patients are on drugs called DPP-4 inhibitors (Saxagliptin, Sitagliptin, Vildagliptin etc) which can cause Urinary tract infections. There is another class of drugs which diabetes patients are prescribed, the SGLT-2 inhibitors (dapagliflozin, empagliflozin etc.). These can cause Urinary tract infections too. If your mother is on any of these medicines, may be you could ask her doctor to prescribe an alternative.

She may still need further evaluation with an urologist if the above does not work.

I hope this answer has helped you.

Thank you
Regards
