What Causes Recurrent Bacterial Vaginosis?

Can a man transfer bacterial vaginosis if he is sleeping with one woman and then going and sleeping with his wife if he does not clean himself properly I m asking for an honest opinion I can t seem to get rid of this bacterial vaginosis I take my antibiotics then I end up in pain again back at the doctors and the only person I m sleeping with is my boyfriend but we ve been together for many years and he s gone a lot so I kind of wonder thank you very much for your help and honesty

Hi .welcome to "Ask A Doctor service". I have read your question and here is my advice .
To be very honest bacteria vaginosis is not considered to be sexuallu transmittd neither treatment of teh partner is of any benefit. so it's not the problem of the partner.
Howe'ver the disease can be recurrent in up up to 30 percent of people.
what in would advise you should cinfirm the diagnosis as pain is not a common feature of BV and it may be assossiated with other chronic diseases like trachoma , pelvic inflator disease , son those need to be ruled out .
once cimonfirmed the strategy would be complete 7 days course and Eliminate possible factors that may influence the microbiological flora (e.g. douching, shampoos, spermicides, etc.) which may be causing recurrence .
