What Causes Recurrent Cough And Congestion Inspite Of Taking Piriton?
Hello, a few weeks ago I had a cold with a cough that felt like I swallowed water down the wrong way. It was relentless at night. I went through 11 cough mixtures and took piriton also. It finally went, but it is starting again now, the same feeling, I am constantly violently clearing my throat, same feeling that water has gone down wrong way. Non smoker, no asthma. thank you
Thanks for asking at Healthcare Magic. I read your question and I understand your concern. It's cough with postnasal drip that has two possibilities. 1. Allergic rhinitis 2. Deviated nasal septum or hypertrophied turbinate I would like to continue 10 mg of piriton at bed time for at least 10 days. Take decongestant like Oxometazoline. Do regular saline gargles in morning and at bed time. Avoid dust, dust mites, pollens. If the problem still persists then go for PNS Xray and let the doctor see your report. Hope it helps best. Take your best care. Don't forget to rate this answer and close the discussion at Healthcare Magic. Regards Dr. Ejaz
