What Causes Recurrent Cough Despite Taking Mucinex?
I m wondering whether or not to see a dr. I started on Saturday with a cough. Saturday night into Sunday the cough got worse. Sunday night into Monday the cough got worse and I started blowing my nose a lot. It was clear stuff. Monday night I start with what I think a low grade fever 100.4. I started on over the counter Mucinex fast max day and night. This morning I had a fever of 100. The fever is gone but the cough is still pretty rough. Nothing comes up when I cough. It s just very annoying. I didn t know whether to go to the dr or give the over the counter meds time to work.
In my opinion, you should definitely consult a pulmonologist. Your cough is persistent rather worsening. So we should rule out lung infection and bronchitis. So better to consult pulmonologist and get done a clinical examination of the respiratory system, chest x-ray and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test). A chest x-ray is needed to rule out lung infection. PFT is must for the diagnosis of bronchitis. You may need antibiotics and inhaled bronchodilators based on the basis of reports.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
