What Causes Recurrent Diarrhea Inspite Of Giving Flagyl To Child?
My son had an absess tooth and was given clinamycin. Broke out in a rash all over and had to quit taking it. Had the tooth extracted and two days later started with diarrhea. Went to doctor and he gave him flagl for 7 days. It stopped with the first pill but one week after diarrhea started again and hasn t stopped. Was 7 days not enough. Should he have been given more to get rid of bacteria.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that your son had an infection in the intestines which can be due to septicemia secondary to tooth infection and flagyl was appropriate medicine given for it to treat infection.. There is a possibility that there is relapse of the infection leading to recurrence of diarrhoea.. Nothing to worry about it as you can give him flagyl again for 3 days and along with anti-diarrhoea medicine like Furazolidone can be given for reducing the frequency of loose motions.. Give him plenty of fluids and oral rehydration solution..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr. Honey Nandwani Arora.
