What Causes Recurrent Ear Infections With Neck Pains?

Hi, I am 27 year old female. I was diagnosed with an ear infection in June. I had pain in my right ear along with a feeling of pressure being applied within my ear. I also had pain in right hand side of neck and behind my ear. After two courses of antibiotics this cleared up. Six weeks later I have the same symptoms back. I've been given another week of antibiotics and a decongestant and also referred to an ENT specialist in October. My GP has no idea whats causing it. Any opinions welcome.

As per your query you have recurrent ear infections with neck pains. It seems to be due to bacterial or fungal infection , wax build up, fluid accumulation, Eustachian tube dysfunction and systemic disease infection. The lumps on ear could be due to allergic reaction or folliculitis. I would suggest you to apply cold compresses to external ear on lumps. You should keep your ear dry until it gets alright , which is very important and cover your ear while bathing. Take over the counter anti histamine like benadryl twice a day. Put Otogesic ear drops. You should go for audiometer testing as well to check hearing level. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis. Doctor may examine by otoscopic means to check level of infection. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin at least for a week along with decongestants.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
