What Causes Recurrent Fever In A Toddler?

My two year old son has had a fever off and on for two weeks. At the start of those two weeks his temp reached 102. He ended up with a head and chest cold with the fever still lingering just not as high. The fever stopped out of no where then one morning he just started vomiting with a temp of 100. Then he was fine until the next day he could sit up by himself cause he was two weak. About three days ago he got over his colds....still this fever wont go away along with neck pain.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I would advise you to get your son checked by a Pediatrician as soon as possible.

Such a long history of fever along with vomiting and neck pain can be an indication of a serious condition like Meningitis. He needs an immediate clinical examination with a few blood tests and CSF examination.

A Widal test should be done to rule out Typhoid. He needs to put on an antibiotic therapy according to the results of the test.

Do not delay his treatment as it may lead to severe complications. I hope that answers your question.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nazma.amman
