What Causes Recurrent Migraine And Pressure In The Head?

Hello, I am 53 years old, i m in generally good health. I eat right (thanks to my wife), and exercise regularly. I like to work and stay busy. Occasionally I experience migraine headaches, and I will know one is coming on when the optic nerve is pushing, or pressure is building, and the pain usually follows in about 30 minutes. This morning during church my vision was obscured just a bit as if one of those headaches was coming on. But when I got home I found it unusually hard to put words together. I wasn t slurring my speech, but the words were not coming out correctly and this was rather disconcerting. Yesterday was a long day, volunteering with my kids in the Florida sun, and I had a couple of beers with dinner, and so I was probably a bit dehydrated also. The odd speech pattern is what i m concerned about. I took a two hour nap, and feel much better this evening, but wow, I was kind of scared there for a little while. What do you think I was experiencing? An example would be, I was asking my son to pick up your laundry , but I kept saying lick up your paundry . I did this with a couple of other sentences where I switched the leading letters of two words, which I have done before, but this time I was doing it over and over again, without the ability to stop doing it.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You can take Aceclofenac and Paracetamol tab twice a day for 5 days. You can take Rabeprazole tab twice a day for 5 days. Apply Diclofenac spray on affected site. Apply warm water bag on affected site. If not resolved then consult your orthopedic surgeon. Do X-ray of affected part and do physiotherapy, it is also helpful.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
