What Causes Recurrent Pain In Testicles And Abdomen Inspite Of Taking Doxycycline?

Hi, basically I went to the doctors and they said I had gastroenteritis which I believe is true as I cannot drink alcohol or anything or I get unreal stomach cramps, I don t know if this is related but this is the main problem; I ve been to my doctor also to tell them I had really bad aches in my testicles, and a sharp stabbing pain in my bell-end. I was given a course of medication called doxycycline which is the cure for chlamydia. I ve finished the course and the pains went away, three weeks on and the pain seemed to have come back, I m really confused and don t know whether I needed a longer course (I was on a 14 day course), or whether it s a different problem altogether like a kidney infection or something. I d really appreciate a reply, thanks.

Hi,

14 days is pretty enough. If the problem recurred, it is possible to have some other condition like epididymo orchitis (infection of ball and cord) or a varicocele (venous blockage). I suggest you to get back to your doctor and examined once again, as it may need a urine routine examination (may pick up a urine infection epididymo orchotis) or an ultrasound to look for varicocele. Meanwhile, you can take paracetamol for pain relief.
