What Causes Recurrent Pain In The Legs?

I have been having random leg pains, that started at the panty line of the groin, and spread. The pain got so bad I went to my gp for meds to help. She referred me to a orthopedic surgeon and my appointment is on the 21 of March. Will I need hip surgery? What other things might be the cause of this terrible debilitating pain? I have been using crutches as needed. Oxycodo was prescribed 5-325. I have only been taking 1/2 each of 4x daily as I am sensitive to meds. It made me so drousy, upset my stomach, felt like I was walking around in a fog, and still had leg pains. Have been putting sports creme on legs. Realized that was what was stopping the pain the most. So on 2 day of no oxycodo, and have been using (first time) Aspercreme with Lidocane. Head is clear, still tired, stomach says thank you :), and the Lidocaine is working well. Have stopped using crutch. Only have leg pain when first moving (deep inside leg). Almost no pain when stationary. So far so good. Main question: Do you agree that the leg pains are caused by the worn out hip? What else might be the cause.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Lower limb pain can occur due to hip joint problems and low back spinal problems. These are the usual reasons and a CT Scan of the lumbo-sacral and hip joints will diagnose the condition. Please do consult an Orthopedic surgeon, who can do the necessary investigation, and advise on the management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
