What Causes Recurrent Painful Bruise On The Lower Leg After An Injury?

I fell down the stairs in the summer time and I ended up with a scar on my lower leg and it was numb for months, it finally has feeling but there is a bruise that constantly goes away and then comes back, it still hurts aswell. What could be wrong? Or what should I do?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your case history of bruise on leg, my treatment advice is -

1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Take a NSAID like Ibuprofen for 5-7 days. If problem persists then consult a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
