What Causes Recurrent Painful Muscle Catch Under Chin?

I pull a muscle under my chin quiet often, more when I yawn and when going to the dentist when they need me to open my mouth wider .... To get this pain to go away I have to look straight up with my mouth closed and start moving my tongue around, this hurts a lot but the pain goes away. Its the same as I do when my legs get a muscle cramp in the back. What things can I do to prevent this from happening as often as it is. I ve been told I need to drink more fluids, get some sleep, and just rest all together.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, recurrent muscle catch with painful muscle spasm while yawning do indicate possible locked jaw via temporo mandibular joint fibrosis. In my clinic, after thorough clinical examination, i do recommend an MRI of the concerned region, so that better guidelines can be created for best solutions.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
