What Causes Recurrent Seizures In A Child?

I adopted my daughter from China in 2000 when she was 3. A few months after arriving here she eliminated 2 8 tapeworms. We noticed that she got dizzy 4 or 5 times a year until she hit puberty---then she started to have seizures--partial clonic--left side involvement. For two years she has taken anti-seizure meds. and has not had a recurrence of the seizures. Might the seizures be caused by calcified tape cysts?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I do understand your pain and discomfort. As per her history is concerned we have to make a diagnosis of seizures first. So please make some investigations as below:

1) Do a [MRI] scan to ruled out any surgical pathology present inside cranial cavity and [EEG] test

2) Do a full blood count with differential(CBC & DC)

3) Record body temperature after each seizures (every 6 hours up to 72 hours)

4) Add [2-HER SUSP oral]every night 5)Do tuberculin skin test You can follow me after reports, if any doubt arises in diagnosis of fits.

I hope I was able to address your query. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to write to me. Wishing you all the best.

Thanks,
Dr. Uday Nath Sahoo
