What Causes Recurrent Swelling At The Bee Sting Site?

my 7 year old daughter was stung by multiple bees over the weekend (approximately 15 stings). She seemed fine, no signs of trouble breathing or swelling other than the immediate area of the stings. The swelling went down and now a few days later, swelling has recurred in the area of the stings and the area around the stings is red. Should we take her to see a doctor, or simply give her more Benadryl? She seems fine and says that the areas do not hurt or itch.

HI

Thanks for posting your query.

Well , the first episode of swelling was due to allergy to bee sting which subsided . But now the swelling that has appeared is due to infection and not allergy.

So Benadryl will not work now. You can give some cold compresses over it for 1-2 days . But if it persists or if it starts paining or if there is fever , she needs to be examined and hence consult a doctor in that case.

As of now she can still wait and watch.

Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarifications feel free to ask.

Regards.
