What Causes Recurrent Swelling Below The Ears?

Painful swelling in front of my ears, above my jaws. It happened last year and nurse practioner said I was allergic to new antidepressant my rheumatologist had just put me on. Got of the med and swelling went away. It s back. Waking me up. I see my cardiologist Tuesday. Can this wait until then? Thank you.Gail Ruff

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of recurrent swelling below the ears, which can be due to swollen lymph nodes also known as LYMPHADENOPATHY and it is commonly due to infections. Alleregic reaction or side effects of medicine can also possible.You should consult general physician and get evaluated. In case of infections and inflammation antibiotics like Augmentin and anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen can be advised. Doctor may also refer you to dentist in case of dental abscess. In case if there is some doubt still left Biopsy of lymph nodes can be done.
