What Causes Recurrent Tightness On Left Side Of Throat?

I have had a tightness come and go on the left side of my throat. It feels like a pulled muscle, but goes away fast. I can just be sitting watching tv or visiting and it clamps up. I then get a panic feeling, because it is like I cannot swallow for a lil while. Is this something to go to a doctor about? Or normal?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

It is something to visit a doctor for. The first thing I would like for you to request for is an EKG, consider it as a routine checkup and get this done as it is both cheap and completed in less than 5 minutes.

Once the EKG reports a normal result, I would request for you to discuss the symptoms of a condition called gastroesophageal reflux disease with your doctor, and also request for a 24-hour acid pH monitoring.

Best wishes.
