What Causes Recurring UTI When Diagnosed With An Enlarged Prostate?

I am a male- 10-12-1948 in good health but have recurrent urinary tract infections for a long time. I am afraid of the bacteria getting stronger and the antibiotics weaker. Is this a good choice. I was hoping for a more permanent solution with a series of medicines that make the urine acidic and turns it into formaldehyde. I heard this works great. What are your thoughts? I have been cleared of any sign of cancer. I have an enlarged prostate; the bladder does not empty properly when I have an infection; I have to use a catheter.

Hello,

I think your symptoms are as a result of a resistant infection. You should do an uroculture to determine the kind of bacteria which is causing it and which antibiotics can be used to treat it. Also, an enlarged prostate makes it worse. You should do an ultrasound for prostate and PSA levels.
