What Causes Recurring Bladder Infections Despite Taking Medications?

My 27 yr. old daughter had a ureter bilateral reimplant when she was 8. She has had her share of bladder infections over the years. She seems to be suffering from bladder infections of late. This last one does not seem to be improving with medication. She has been on 3 different medications in the last month. Any recommendations? Her doctor has not recommended a Urologist as yet.

Hello and welcome.

I cannot recommend medications without a urine culture report. In cases with recurrent urinary tract or bladder infections, a urine culture and sensitivity examination is mandatory.

Me recommending any medications now would be a shot in the dark as she clearly is already resistant to quite a few antibiotics, noting her state of non-improvement. Please get this investigation done and either write to me or take it to her treating doctor.

Best wishes.
