What Causes Recurring Blood Spots In Stools Of A Toddler?

Hi, My 1.5 year kid has some vomiting and poor appetetite 2 week ago which was cured after some medicines. but again after 3 days of curing he has some red blood in his poo at the end of poo in size of a pea seed. My doctor told may be it is due to cow milk his mother consuming and have given vizylac, zinc multivitamin, metrozyl, and albendazone. but the problem still exists but sometimes blood is present sometimes not. He has the similer problem previous time he was teething, now again he is teething. he has some cough too. Please suggest that what should be the reason of blood as i am worried.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear , This is Dr. S.Tomar from healthcaremagic.com's medical team and I will be your medical adviser for this question. Thank you for sharing your concern with us and showing trust on us.
The main causes of blood in stools include anal fissure in toddler which is a tear in anal mucosa and is caused mainly due to constipation . Other possible causes include milk/soy protein intolerance. Some rare causes include polyps , Inflammatory bowel disease , meckel's diverticulum .
Even your child's bleeding in stool seems to be minor and resolves on its own but keeping in mind it's recurrence I would recommend to consult it further with your Pediatrician to get a thorough check up and to rule out any serious issue .

This is my initial response and feel free to contact if you need any further clarification .

Thank you for your question and feel free to contact us further for any query or follow up.

sincerely,

DR.S.TOMAR
