What Causes Recurring Cough Along With Vomiting?
3 year old Male, all summer has had a periodic cough. loose sounding in chest. he can start coughing and it can continue til it gets to the point of vomiting. can continue for hours. sometimes it starts after eating, but it can start at anytime. parents had him to a doctor early summer. (diagnosed allergies). been giving him zertec for allergies. its now October and still happening. Along with this he gets what looks like mosquito bites?? legs, arms, back, chest. there can be as few as three or four to as many as twenty. don t think chicken pox come and go and last for months?? they get real itchy and he says they hurt. will start writing down times, what he eats, activities, wearing. to see if a pattern happens. Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of recurring cough along with vomiting. Well there can be many reasons for sore throat like bacterial and viral infection or in acid reflux . But in your case it seems to me that sore throat is probably because of viral infection , which usually go away by its own after completing the course. But you should also rule out the conditions like asthma or lung infection. Vomiting along with cough is due to persistent infection of airways and sinuses. For now do warm saline gargles , take over the counter cough syrup and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain and swelling. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist gain for proper examination . Doctor may order test like throat swab test , viral culture test and blood test to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe antiviral drug like acyclovir and with anti inflammatory. Drink warm milk with one spoon of turmeric powder in it.
