Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
every now and then i get like leg cramps in my legs and once in my knee and i couldnt move it, its been happening more here lately i have noticed, i have always been active but l sort of slowed down i dont know if i might have pulled a muscle cause i had not been doing it as much as i once did,and i have started back with it..
Recurrent leg muscle cramps may be due to several conditions like dehydration, neuropathy, Myopathy, any injury or trauma to the area, poor diabetic control or many other conditions. It is advisable for you get yourself worked up for it. You may require a complete physical examination, renal function test, fasting and post prandial Sugars, CPK, nerve conduction tests and other tests if required. I suggest you consult a physician to get yourself checked for the above conditions. In the mean time you can increase hydration alongwith adequate salt intake and start a program of muscle training in consultation with a physiotherapist to prevent recurrence of cramps.
Hope it helps.
Regards Dr Manish Jha
