What Causes Recurring Dizziness In A 11 Year Old Child After Swimming?

My 11 yr old son took a swim test that involved breast stroke, American free style, and backstroke. When he got of the pool, he was dizzy. The dizziness seems to come and go. On scale of 1-10 (10 being really bad), he says it s about a five. It will happen while he is sitting or standing. This happened on Tuesday night. It is now Friday. Today (Friday), he had a pain on the right side of his head behind the ear. It lasted only a few seconds. Not sure what to do. Thank you! Olivia Stemberger

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It could be a syncope.

If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

A detailed evaluation is required including an ECG and echo test.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
