What Causes Recurring Ear Infection Along With Sore Throat?

I ve had an ear infection for the last 3 years. Originally caused by algae from a swimming pool. I m ALLERGIC to all antibiotics. I m trying to cure it with homeopathic methods. I ve been able to fix the problem about 80% but then it flares back up. The ear infection causes my throat to be sore and canker sores on the side of my tongue next to the affected ear, the lympth nodes on the same size to become swollen and hard and at times a low grade fever. I m using olive oil and cotton for the ear, hot tea with honey, Echinacea and Zinc. Can you suggest any further methods to completely cure the problem?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of recurring ear infection along with sore throat which can occur due to bacterial as well as viral infection and there is another factor also that is acid reflux , which also give such symptoms. IT could be due to eustachian tube dysfunction. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist if not getting relief with present medicine for proper diagnosis like swab test and viral culture test . Doctor may order stronger antibiotics , antiviral ( acyclovir ) along with decongestant and expectorant . For now do betadine and warm saline gargles and apply dry hot compresses to external ear. Avoid taking cold carbonated beverages and avoid taking oily, fried and spicy food.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
