My 11 mth old son had one ear infection and fluid in his ears back in January, around 8 months then. He got an antibiotic and decongestant and things seemed to clear up. We went back at his 10 month checkup and again had fluid in his ears but no infection. Did more decongestant, one ear cleared up, then got fluid again so we re doing more decongestant and may be referred to an ENT at next visit. We re trying to be very thorough cleaning his ears daily, but he does not want them touched. Today I found a little spot of blood on a qtip, should I be worried about this and take him in sooner? He s not due back for his recheck for 2 weeks.
11 months old baby is too young for you to clean at home. Further anything inserted in the ear canal may cause injury to tightly packed canal skin and push in the debris in the canal. The only ideal way is to see an ENT specialist at the earliest to get it cleaned and have proper treatment. General Advice: 1. Avoid Q-tips or any ear cleaner available in the markets esp not at least for kids 2. Avoid ear draining or dripping in the ear while having bath
