What Causes Recurring Episodes Of Dizziness Along With Cramps In Legs And Arms?

I am 61. About 5 weeks ago, I was hospitalized for 2 days following a couple of 30-second episodes of dizziness and wavy sensations down my arms and legs as well as elevated BP(200/94). They did a chest x-Ray, blood week, and EKGs, all OK. The Dr increased my BP meds and I am undergoing tests with a neurologist for nerve conduction. But today I had another episode that lasted a little longer. I don t really want to go back to that ER(small hospital) and I feel OK now. But I feel like maybe they are not looking for the right thing. Any ideas?

Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

I read carefully your question and would like to explain that your symptoms may be caused by different disorders:

1- TIA ( transient ischemic events), can cause a temporary occlusion of blood vessels, leading to dizziness and other symptoms. A cardiac check up and a Doppler ultrasound of the cervical vessels ( carotid and vertebral arteries) would be necessary to exclude any possible cause.

2- Partial seizures may also mimic this symptomatology. An EEG would be necessary to exclude this possibility, followed by a brain CT scan.

3. Thyroid imbalance. I recommend performing the thyroid hormone levels, which can cause a various symptomatology.

4. An inner ear disorder, like benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, can cause acute episodes of vertigo, associated with autonomic symptoms. Labyrinthine tests are necessary to rule out this disorder.

Hope to have been helpful!

Greetings!
