What Causes Recurring High Fever With Vomiting?

My son has had a fever since Saturday. It goes down with Tylenol/Advil but at times gets up to 104.6 when it wears off. He was tested for strep at a minute clinic which was negative. They suspected influenza and sent home. Last night he vomited and now has off/on cramps that wake him up and then pass. It hasn t been 5 days yet but I am wondering if the stomach thing is related or accompanied with the fever, a concern. When medicated, he is acting normally.
