What Causes Recurring Mild Pain In Chest With Discomfort In Left Arm?

I ve been having extremely mild chest pains (hard to describe as pain) for the last month. I saw my doctor a week ago. He asked a lot of questions, and said that while there was nothing definite, and that maybe one in a thousand might be a heart issue, that it sounded like I did not have a heart problem. Trouble is now, its midnight and I ve been having a little discomfort in my left arm. Like the chest pain its so mild in the chest and arm that I can t really call it pain at all, just a strange feeling.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted your history of very mild chest pain and pain in left arm.
As advised by your Doctor, please get the EKG/ECG and other cardiac evaluation like Echocardiography to rule out issues related to heart.
If the cardiac check up is normal also get the pulmonary check up.
Each for the movements of the upper limbs that increase the discomfort.
If all the investigations are within normal limits then this may be a condition called Costochondritis.
Relax and avoid stress and anxiety.
Avoid people with viral infections.
Take an anti-inflammatory medications and oral steroid if required.
Local Rubefacient liniment.
All these things done step by step should give you the best possible diagnosis and thus plan for management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
