HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Abnormal sensations are usually related to issues with nerve function.

It can present with intermittent symptoms as in your case or can be associated with more progressive symptoms.

Abnormal nerve function is called neuropathy.

There are different possible causes, the most common are: (1) diabetes
(2) abnormal (either too low or too high) levels of vitamin b6
(3)low levels of vitamin b12 or folate
(4)side effect of medication
(5)trauma to the nerves eg if there is any arthritis of the back or hips
(6)liver or kidney disease
(7)thyroid disease
(8)infection
(9)exposure to toxins

If it continues or worsens then you may want to consider seeing your doctor for an assessment.
This would include history, physical examination and likely blood tests.

I hope this helps
