Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Recurring Numbness In Tips Of Fingers?
The tips of my fingers become numb when in certain conditions...like skiing. It is only the tips of my fingers and it is very painful when they start to warm. It only seems to happen when I ski. I am a runner and have run through the winter for years and never had a problem. It happened for the first time while skiing last winter. I have tried different gloves as well as heat pads inside my gloves but my fingertips still start to get numb and burn.
It could also have to do with the altitude, I would recommend an elaborate evaluation including complete blood count, lipid profile, Doppler ultrasound of the affected region, etc. It is more likely to be a circulatory issue and so I would also like to relate the presentation to systemic conditions thus requiring an ANA test at first, along with RA factor.
Best wishes.
