I just finished with antibiotics on Friday and woke up today, Tuesday with a crusty ear again. cannot lay on that side as my ear feels a lot of pressure and pain against my pillow. This is 3 rd bout of this since February 2016 and 2nd round of cipro. Why cant i get this to clear up?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of recurring pain and pressure in ear despite antibiotic treatment which seems to be due to ear infection due to earwax and fluids accumulation and could be otitis media.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to

- Do warm saline gargles.
- Avoid excessive use of mobile as it will put ear pressure.
- Avoid touching or pricking ear with any sharp object.
- Take proper course of antibiotic along with antiinflammatory medication.
- Maintain cleanliness of ears.

Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and start treatment after proper prescription. You should get otoscopic examination done and audiometry testing done. Take prescribed ear drops.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
