Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Recurring Pain And Swelling In Joints Of Fingers?
I have swollen middle joints in some of my fingers, the pain comes and goes so does the swelling and it jumps around from finger to finger, right now the middle joint of my pinky finger has been swollen for about a month now and it is getting larger and larger. I went to the doctor - he put me on naproxen and it raised my blood pressure so much I had to stop taking it (I currently take BP medication) so now I am on nothing, I had blood work done to check for Rhumetoid and it came up negative. So now I m left clueless as to why the pain and swelling. Not sure what to do. Thanks and I m only 33 yo.
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. In my opinion, we should rule out other causes for finger swelling like hyperuricemia, hypothyroidism, hypoproteinemia etc. So consult doctor and get done 1. Uric acid level 2. Thyroid function test 3. Serum protein levels. You may need treatment according to the above reports. Don't worry, you will be alright. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
