What Causes Recurring Pain In Chest With All Tests Being Normal?

Released from er cause chest pains on Saturday. Also happened month ago, and now yesterday two times, lasted very short about minute. At ER they did ECG, two enzyme tests, ECG normal, Enzyme test negative, and they did Chest X-ray, no acute findings there. BP was little higher 160/90 i think it got there when i start worrying on the way to ER. Left ER with 140/90, later in the day was around 130. They suggested stress test with in 72 hours. Do you think i have some kind of heart desiese like angina, hiden.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear,

Considering the fact that the results of ECG & Enzyme tests are within normal limits, an acute cardiovascular disease can be ruled out.
The rise in blood pressure can be explained on the basis of stress.
A stress test within 72 hrs will be further helpful in ruling out any cardiovascular pathology.

Under such circumstances, the symptoms as mentioned in your post can be attributed to:
1. Spasm of the chest muscles- management will involve application of muscle relaxant gel & intake of analgesic (like Diclofenac) + Pantoprazole preparation.

2. Gastrointestinal cause- due to accumulation of gas and excess acid formation in stomach. Symptomatic relief can be obtained with intake of Proton pump inhibitors like Pantoprazole, which prevent acid formation in stomach (to be taken before meals)+ antacid gel (to be taken after meals).

There is no need to worry, you will be fine.
Take care.
