What Causes Recurring Pain In The Pelvic Area?

I have a recurring crampy twinge of pain in my pelvis area . If I point to it, it is at a pretty precise point, about an inch or so away from my right hip bone, towards center of my abdomen. I am 49 and officially in menopause - I have not had a cycle for well over a year. I weigh about 145 lbs and am about 5 5 . I used to be slender but have gained some weight the last few years and do feel bloated in my abdominal area (that is wear I don t look so slender anymore). The twinge of pain or crampy feeling comes and goes sometimes many times a day. I did have surgery for uterine fibroids when I was 36 (in 02) and then a successful pregnancy at 38 (in 05). Then four miscarriages followed my successful pregnancy, if that is relevant. I did undergo embryo transfers and the accompanying hormones and meds, etc during those two transfers (in 08). So.. I had two biological miscarriages and the two adopted embryo transfer miscarriages. Perhaps all irrelevant, but just giving you history of my reproductive issues. thank you.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted your history in detail and understood hte concerns.
The commonest cause I can think about in your case in spite of Gynecological and Obstetric history are:
Right ureteric stone.
Appendicitis.
Intestinal obstruction.
This is because you have recurrent spasmodic pain at a point in right iliac fossa.
Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Consult a General Surgeon for a clinical evaluation>
X-ray of abdomen in standing position and for KUB that is kidney, ureter and bladder.
Ultrasonography and CT scan of abdomen is very important and helps a lot in confirming or ruling out any specific cause.
All these will help you to get a proper diagnosis and get treated accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant,
ENT & General Surgeon
