What Causes Recurring Pain In Upper Stomach?

Yes, I have been having pains in my upper stomach since Jan. 1st. It comes and goes. It can be quite painful at times. I really don t want to get a lot of tests run. I have a history of ulcers. The pain feels like cramping, like a squeezing feeling. I haven t been able to figure out when it happens. I have taken Nexium with no relief and zantac, with no relief. What do you think?

Hi,

Thanks for your question.
Noted your concern.

Gastic ulcer may cause pain in upper stomach though pain is usually burning in nature (not cramping or squeezing) also there may be relief with use of Nexiuam or zantac.

As you are reluctant for any test to be done you can try antispasmodic like tab Buscopan along with Nexium and zantac.

If there is no relief in that case there is need for detailed clinical examination for which you should consult your doctor.

Depending upon clinical examination following tests may required-
- complete Blood count.
- Ultrasonography of abdomen and pelvis.
- Liver and Kidney function test.
- Urine examination.

Hope this helps you.
