What Causes Recurring Pain, Numbness And Swelling In Lower Left Leg?

Hello, I have been having some pain in my lower left leg. This is off and on for about 2 weeks, and comes with swelling in a generalized area, numbness at times in the area and in my foot, and pain varies from mild to moderate. Elevating and getting off my feet help the most, but sometimes nothing helps. I am wondering if I should schedule a doctor visit about this, or if there is something else I might be able to try? I am uninsured...so always try to make sure that a visit is necessary before I schedule an appointment! Thanks for your help:)

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have recurring pain, numbness and swelling in lower left leg . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like soft tissue injury , hematoma , nerve injury or compression .

The symptoms can also occur due to other conditions like diabetes or kidney problem . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper diagnosis . Doctor may order CT scan , MRI along with nerve conduction test . Doctor may prescribe anti inflammatory along with nerve supplement and recommend physical therapy .

For now keep your leg elevated while sleeping and apply warm compresses several times a day . Doctor may also refer you to nephrologist.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
