What Causes Recurring Pus Filled Blister On The Buttocks?
I get this patch of raised skin every 4 months on my right buttock. Always in the same place. It starts as a pimple and itches. Then it swells up and sometimes fills with liquid. My Dr. Did a herpes test and said it was positive but from OLD EXPOSURE! Can you tell me what all this means?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
Recurring pus-filled blisters on the buttocks could be a sign of a few different conditions, including herpes, folliculitis, or an abscess. It is important to have a healthcare provider examine the affected area to determine the underlying cause and provide appropriate treatment.
In your case, your doctor did a herpes test, which came back positive. Herpes is a viral infection that can cause blisters or sores on the skin. It is possible that you had previous exposure to the virus and are experiencing recurrent outbreaks. However, herpes outbreaks typically occur more frequently than every 4 months.
It is also possible that you have a different skin condition that is causing the recurring blister. Your healthcare provider will determine the underlying cause.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
