Hi I m experience a really bad rash due to scabies I was treated 2 months ago and I have it again im a very clean person and I do laundry regularly do I need to get rid of my bed ? I did seak medical treatment twice for it .so is his treatment working why did I get it again ...
Scabies is caused by a minute mite, and the most common reason for recurrence is missing few mites or their eggs while applying the drug. So take care following points during next treatment.
1. All family members in the household & close contacts need to be treated, even if asymptomatic
2. Drug should reach the entire body surface below neck- give particular attention to skin folds(axilla, groin, umbilicus, perineum, between fingers)
3. Entire garments including inners need to be washed in hot bath, dried in direct sunlight(dry cleaning for non washables) and ironed.
4. Contact time of 12 hours, and two applications 1 week apart
I used to give permethrin 5% for local application and single dose of Ivermectin.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam TK, Pediatrician
