What Causes Recurring Red Eyes After Waking Up?

Hi, For the past few montghs I've been waking up with bloodshot eyes. Both eyes, and the redness seems to have taken over the whole of the white. My eyes are also gunky, sometimes crusted together. The first thing I have to do is wash my eyes. It doesn't matter if I wake at 3 in the morning or later, or even if I have a sleep during the day, I have these red eyes. It seerms to fade away after the first half to an hour of being up. No paain. Some grittiness. No vision disturbance. So my optomitrist or my GP? Have had a victrectomy done on right eye in the past .

Hello
Welcome to Health care magic.

I reviewed your history.
These symptoms indicate infection of the conjunctiva in the form of conjunctivitis.
This requires treatment by the use of antibiotic eye drops.

Hence I advice you to consult your doctor for examination and treatment accordingly.

Thank you
