What Causes Recurring Shortness Of Breath, Dizziness And Slurred Speech?
Hello- I am a 54 year old African-American male. I sporadically present with symptoms of: shortness of breath, dizziness and slurred speech, all at the same time, but, are resting and/or eating, the symptoms subside. I have perfect blood pressure (typically 110-120/72-80 on average), and have no sugar in my urine, according to recent check. I have always had a trace of blood in urine, but nothing serious ever diagnosed. What could be causing these sporadic episodes?
The commonest causes of sporadic symptoms of shortness of breath, dizziness and slurred speech simultaneously which subside on resting or eating can be one of the following in view of normal blood pressure. Problems concerned with brain like le4ss vascular supply occurring due to some cause can lead to all the three symptoms that you have mentioned. I would advise you the following in such a situation, consult your doctor for clinical evaluation, examination in general and investigations as per the findings.
Keep the blood pressure machine at home and see the blood pressure when you get such attacks. Also, observe for any other symptoms associated with these, although trivial. MRI of the brain with MRA that is MRI angiography may be required. Angiography of the carotids and vertebral arteries may help in further diagnosis. Once a proper cause is found then it will be easy for a specific treatment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
