Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Recurring Sinus Infection And Dry Cough?
I have had a recurring sinus infection, which was treated with antibiotics and steroids back in May. I also have cough variant asthma, and it always ends up in my chest. I have this infection again, and started taking steroids mostly to clear up the lungs. This time around it is less intense, but my fear is developing pneumonia. The mucus is clear but thick, and I still have a dry cough which doesn t produce much phlegm. Do I need an antibiotic again to get over the hump with this? My resistance hAs been somewhat compromised as I was on radiation treatment in May for stage 1 breast cancer, which was successfully treated.
For recurrent sinus infection you can take some antibiotic like moxikind-cv or augmentin along with avil or montek-lc for congestion and chest discomfort. Take steam inhalation regularly with syrup grilinctus or tusQ-d for dry cough. If still infection is persistent you can take steroids as suggested by your doctor
