What Causes Recurring Slow And Heavier Heartbeats?
I am 41, female, fairly good health, slim but not exercising regularly. Recently I ve noticed I have a few slow, heavy heartbeats every so often - at rest, within a 2-3 minute period, I will feel this. This is new for me. What are possible causes and how urgent is this matter?
The heart beat is not normally detectable except during exercise or other heavy physical activity.
When it is detectable, the persons is said to be experiencing palpitations. This can be due to a change in the rate or the rhythm of the heart beat (called an arrhythmia).
There are some causes of palpitations that are not dangerous and would not cause any problems but there are other types that can be associated with problems.
To determine if an arrhythmia is present and the type, you would need an ECG. This is a test to take a look at heart rate and rhythm, it can also give other information as well.
You are 41years having good health, no other problem.Occasional slow heavy heart beats are dur to anxietyneurosis. Heart rate vary with respiration. Nothing to worry. Get your BP checkedif normal you have no problem.
