What Causes Recurring Sore Eruptions In Throat After Removal Of Tonsils?

When I was 13 months old and 13 years old I had my tonsils removed. The reason for the removal at age 13 was because the tonsils grew back. When I was in my 30 s, I started developing sore throats on the right side of my throat with the scar tissue abscessing with white to black hard masses. When the scar tissue erupted, my throat felt better again for a while. Can you tell me why these sore spots/eruptions are still occuring, even though I have had my tonsils out?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms could be suggestive of a local infection. I recommend consulting with an ENT specialist for a physical exam and performing a throat discharge bacterial culture and ASO titer for streptococcal infection.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
