What Causes Recurring Sore Throat, hoarse Voice And Cold?

my husband is 63 and is a singer. he suffers from occasional sore throat, hoarse voice and violent cold which subsides by a prescribed dose of antibiotic before recurring again. The doctor is asking him to go for a larynx endoscopy since he is a heavy smoker. I m very nervous. how serious the situation is? plz advise.

Addiction Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

You'd want to have a specialist take a look down. With the smoking cancer is not impossible. While highly curable it would end singing career. Most other possibilities keep the singing longer with treatment. So, irritation or small polyps or, if the ENT is quite good, they can see functional problems with the coordination and movement without anything being broke. That requires a particular physical therapy the rest do well with minor surgery or just minor medicines.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
