What Causes Recurring Swelling In The Ankles And Feet?

I have recurring but not constant swelling of the ankles and sometimes feet. Most often it s just my right foot/ankle. I have recently been diagnosed with COPD. My next doc appt is Dec 8th. Today is the first time I have noticed rather large swelling in both feet/ankles, I have been very active today, with packing people in my home getting ready to move. Am I okay until my next office visit?
