What Causes Recurring Throbbing Sensation In The Neck Vein With History Of PVC?

Off and on I have throbbing in the veins in my neck. I m concerned because I do have Pvc. The doctor thought maybe too much caffeine, but I cut out the caffine and still have the pvc. Usually at night. Very seldom do I feel it during the day, I m a 44 year old female and i do smoke but trying to quit. Should I be concerned?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the recurring throbbing sensation in the neck vein with history of premature ventricular contractions do indicate various possible conditions. The most common one is being fault in aorta in terms of calcification, sclerosis, stenosis or others. In my clinic, after thorough history and physical examination, I do recommend a Doppler of the neck for best results of possible diagnosis and cure accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
