What Causes Recurring Tingling And Crawling Feeling Around The Neck?
For the last few weeks I have experienced a tingling (like a bug or spider crawling around my ear and down my neck). It is located on the left side and is sporadic - lasts a few minutes, then disappears perhaps for a few hours. It returns often during the day. There is no pain associated with this, just the annoyance.
It is possible that the abnormal sensations may be related to neuropathy.
This refers to abnormal function of the nerves.
There are different possible causes such as: (1) vitamin b12 or folate deficiency (2)trauma to the involved nerves (3)diabetes (4)liver or kidney disease (5)exposure to toxins (6)ms, stroke (7)exposure to toxins
Blood tests to check vitamin levels, screen for diabetes and to assess liver or kidney function may be need if it continues or worsens.
There are medications that can help reduce the tingling, these would require a prescription from your doctor.
I hope this helps
