What Causes Recurring Tingling Sensation In Shoulder?

I am a 47 year old woman. I am having a pin pricking sensation in my shoulder. It comes and goes. But when it s happening, I just want to take my arm off. It makes me want to rub and scratch it. It s now been scratched so much, I am making my shoulder look like it has a scrap. What can it be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

In my opinion, It may be due to neural problem. Or the shoulder bone may irritate the nerves. There are also other causes. I will also check the sugar status of your body. The itching may also be due to neural problem. Anyway, I would like to give some tests.

1. Complete Blood Tests
2. Nerve Conduction Studies
3. Fasting Blood Sugar
4. Shoulder X-Ray
5. MRI Back

If there is a pain, please take Paracetamol.
Eat a good diet, maintain hygiene, keep yourself hydrated.

Please notify any other symptoms you feel, like numbness, pain, etc.

Please post the results of the tests so that a doctor can follow you up.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dipan Samanta, General & Family Physician
