What Causes Red And Purple Bruise On Tongue After Biting It Accidentally?

I bit my tongue accidentally while eating a cookie. This was unusual for me because it left a red and purple bruise mark all along the side of my tongue, not just a little bite mark. I m concerned that it was an involuntary movement as in a minnie stroke. I have had no other such problems in the past. I m female and 69.

Hello ma'am and welcome.

You worry too much, the bite could have caused injury (temporary) to a blood vessel in the region causing it to bruise and come up with the mentioned presentation.

I would not worry too much, and just drink sips of cold water to promote healing for the first few days, and then sips of warm water to promote blood circulation.

Best wishes.
