What Causes Red And Sore Veins In The Tongue?

I m not sure if it is a vein or what exactly the lines on the bottom of the tongue are, but on the left side the entire line/vein is red and sore, and it causes pain when I eat/move my tongue certain ways. It also feels like it is sticking out more than the one on the right, as if it is swollen. I found out I had strep a couple weeks ago, and right before that was when I first started noticing this particular issue. Since it hasn t gone away, or even started to heal at all over the course of those couple weeks, (at least not that I ve noticed) I m not sure if I should be worried about it or not.

Hi...Can understand your concern...As per your query about having a red sore vein with swelling at the bottom of tongue can be lingulae varices or can also be a minor salivary duct obstruction etc and just symptomatic treatment is required.You need to wait few days and if there is any change in colour or swelling or more painful causing much discomfort you need to visit a oral physician for proper examination and diagnosis.You should do warm saline rinses at least 3-4 times a day and need not to worry.I hope the information helps you.I can guide you further if any query and kindly mention your age.Take care.
